Time flies so fast. The moment of the next chapter in our lives is finally here, the senior high school. We are bound to be in a new environment, meet new people and new friends and enjoy a new beginning. It was so hard to decide and choose what strand are we taking in Senior HS and in what school will we enroll but we have to make decision. This is probably one of the situations where we, students like me, had to make one of the greatest decisions in our lives.
As for me, I decided to enroll in a school within the town, the school nearest to my heart since this is where I spent my Junior High School, the Lemery Senior High School. I decided to take the STEM strand despite some feedbacks that subjects in this strand are more difficult compared to other strands. I may be nervous but I am challenged hence, my choice.

STEM is a strand under academic track in Senior HS educational program developed to prepare secondary students for college in the field of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics(STEM). Under this track, you can become a pilot, an architect, an engineer, a dentist, a nurse, a doctor and a lot more.
I wish to be an engineer someday thus; I take this strand. Aside from that, STEM is reliable in terms of creating a better future. Some students take STEM as their strand simply because they love Mathematics or Science but we should choose as a strand that would make us a better and productive citizen of the society in the future according to our own abilities and interest.
In STEM, the subjects are mostly mathematics and science such as Earth science, Pre-calculus and Basic calculus, Statistics and Probability, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and other subject related to this strand. These subjects are all hard but I believe that focus is a key to understand all of these. I need to persevere and be patient in studying if I want to pass these subjects and I am determined to do this. These subjects would help me a lot to be ready for college. All knowledge that I will gain from taking STEM will equip me further in college.
Taking STEM will be stressful and I will experience it in the entire 2 school years but because I want to fulfill my dreams in the future I will do my best to finish this with flying colors. I will do all my assignment and tasks at home, I will hand in all my projects on time, and will give my best in every exam I will take. I will try to meet the expectations of my teachers being a STEM student. Everyday might be tiring and exhausting but I will be optimistic that at the end of the day, those hardships are worth it because I will gain a lot of knowledge and learning that we cannot take from other experiences. Another positive note is that I have my friends with me. We are helping each other every time. Our friends and classmates will definitely help us to overcome the difficulties and stress we are experiencing and will be experiencing in the future. There are also stress reliever around like wattpad, k-drama, movies and others, although of course we need to prioritize our studies over these things. We should also learn how to love what we hate in this strand so we can survive. On top of all these, we should persevere and do not get tired of doing things all over again until we reach the end of the road and have a glimpse of success.
“Always remember, no matter how hard, whether you’re good or not in math or science, whatever your grades are, the measurement of the true learning is all about attitude, accepting failures but continuing, not giving up and staying strong. That’s the life of a STEM student. It is not easy and will not be easy but we have to stay on track for our goal and to eventually make a difference for ourselves, for our families and for the country.”
